Jake
Jake, our Missouri Fox Trotter Gelding is the youngest of the herd but is totally convinced he should be running the show. He's got the speed, the brains, and the whole "perfect horse" look down pat. He spends most of his time looking for extra hay and waiting for students to come by to give him some love. He's ready to lead, but he's got a long, long time to wait for his big brother Champ to retire!

Champ
Champ, the Cremello Quarter Horse is the self-appointed, wise, and slow-moving boss of the pasture. As the herd's leader, his powerful calming presence is so strong it could halt a stampede. He demands respect from the other horses. He's a total softie. He absolutely loves getting nose scratches and a treat, especially when they come from the kids.

Honey
Honey, our Palomino Quarter Horse is the resident speed fiend and the only mare in the pasture. While she may initially greet you with a shy glance, the second she hears a rustle of the treat bag, she's all business. A stunning mare with a serious need for speed, Honey proves that you can be beautiful, fast, and easily bribed.
MEET OUR ANIMALS

Alfie & Felix
Alfie and Felix are our miniature donkey dynamic duo! These two brothers are the silliest, kindest, and most attention-demanding residents of the farm. When they aren't busy trying to decide which one of them is the "real" boss (a title they only hold when the horses aren't looking), they can be found racing each other across the field in an endless game of brotherly chase or wrestling around (yes they do wrestle each other). Felix is the slightly more dominant one and spends a good portion of his day attempting to keep his rambunctious brother, Alfie, in line, a task that usually ends with both of them getting distracted by new food to graze on in the pasture, or turning their attention to the goats. Despite their goofy antics, they are total softies. The second they spot a treat or a chance for a cuddle, they will stop everything and walk right up to you, ready for some love.

Olivia
Olivia is the more confident of our two Kune Kune/Juliana cross pig sisters. She's sassy, determined in her search for the perfect snack, and the first to greet visitors, nose first! After a refreshing mud wallow and a meal of foraged grass, she's ready to flop down for a belly scratch. She loves to nuzzle your ankle, reminding you that it’s time for more treats, leaving you a muddy print of her snout to remember her by.

Betty
Betty is the shy, sweet sister of the Kune Kune/Juliana cross pair. While her sister may be more outgoing, Betty prefers to take things slowly, often hiding in the shadows until the promise of food lures her out. She's easily recognized by the sight of her nose digging around in the dirt, a habit she uses both for foraging and for politely demanding a snack. Once she trusts you, her favorite activity is going for leisurely walks around the ranch, trotting happily alongside her sister.

Bobby
Bobby is our sweet, gentle, and utterly devoted Anglo-Nubian wether. He is the yin to Millie's yang, the calm, cuddly counterpoint to her high-flying antics. When he isn't following the horses, donkeys, or the nearest human on a grand tour of the pasture, he is patiently waiting for his favorite activity: a good cuddle. He'll lean his head right into your chest, let out a soft sigh, and slowly drift off to sleep while accepting your loving pets. Bobby is a true follower, always sticking close to the leaders of the herd, whether they have four legs or two. His curious nature, however, often gets him into trouble, as he loves to stick his nose where it

Ingwe
Ingwe is our magnificent African Spurred Tortoise (Sulcata) and the undisputed matriarch of our tortoise crew. Born in 2000, she is the oldest and one of the largest residents on the ranch. Affectionately named after the renowned tracker and mentor, Ingwe reminds us of our school’s lineage and mission.
Ingwe's daily routine is a masterclass in relaxation and foraging; she loves to bask in the warm sun, taking her time to soak up the Texas heat and warm her impressive shell. While she is generally a creature of slow, deliberate movements, Ingway quickly picks up the pace when she senses a good meal. She spends a significant portion of her day foraging for the best greens, and she is always graciously willing to accept any vegetable or fruit treats brought her way.

Kobe
Kobe (Tortoise in Swahili) is our second oldest Sulcata tortoise, and the only male of the tortoise crew. His name, which fittingly translates to "tortoise" in Swahili, speaks to his strong, quiet presence on the farm. A bit younger and slightly less colossal than Ingwe, Kobe nevertheless commands attention. He is the most active of the tortoise crew, spending his mornings on an important quest to locate the best sunny spot, where he will bask with patient determination, charging his body for the afternoon, where he dedicates himself to meticulously inspecting every edible blade of grass, leaf, and shrub he encounters. He's always ready for a tasty treat, and he shows his appreciation by slowly crunching down on any vegetables or fruit that come his way.

Keya
Keya (Tortoise in Lakota), the youngest of our magnificent tortoise crew, is a Sulcata whose name, kéya, is Lakota for the sacred turtle, symbolizing Mother Earth, guardianship of life, longevity, and fortitude. The 12 scutes on her shell represent the 12 moons and the cyclical relationship with nature. Keya is a gentle, curious soul, often found quietly munching or exploring. Her calm, peaceful demeanor makes her a wonderful, grounding presence for the students. Though the smallest and youngest, Keya is an essential part of the farm and a living symbol of grounded strength and connection to earth's rhythms.

Ducks
Our flock of six Mallard ducks, led by the dashing drakes, Miso and Soup, are the official water-fowl patrol of the ranch. This dynamic group spends their days in perfect formation, marching across the pasture on an important mission to find the best bugs and the coolest shade. Miso and Soup take their leadership roles seriously, guiding the girls (Egg, Chicken, Tofu, and Goose) on foraging expeditions and to the pond for a midday cool-down. These six are never far from each other, communicating in soft, quacky murmurs and the occasional loud announcement to signal human approach, which they’ve learned often means a meal is incoming. Watch them joyfully splash and flap in the pond, celebrating their companionship and their superior ability to find every stray blade of grass and insect on the property.

Chickens
Our lively chickens act as the ultimate cleanup crew. Perpetually in motion, these busy birds enthusiastically forage for bugs, seeds, and scraps. They embody classic farm chicken behavior: constantly scratching, pecking, and exploring every corner of the pasture with a curious, clucking energy, always announcing their finds with a cheerful chorus.
Millie
Millie is our star Anglo-Nubian doe, a true spectacle of the farm and the proud owner of a magnificent set of floppy ears. She considers the elaborate climbing platforms built by the kids her personal stage, where she performs daily demonstrations of her incredible goat agility before launching herself off in a goofy jump. She loves to antagonize the donkeys with mischief, and is not afraid to ask you for more pets and treats with a nudge.
Millie's attention often wanders to a tasty green shrub, and she might easily lose track of you. Don't fret though, the moment she realizes her emotional support humans are missing, she's not shy about calling out from across the farm to find you!
