WILDLIFE TRACK & CERTIFICATION
with CyberTracker International
The CyberTracker Track and Sign Certification is an internationally applied, professional-level certification used to promote wildlife tracking and knowledge. This two-day field experience is both an assessment and a training, with an emphasis on open dialogue and real learning.
The tracks and sign of any and all species encountered in the field may be asked, whether big or small, clear or obscure, fresh or old. After participants give their answers for a set of questions, a dialogue ensues between the evaluator and participants to provide the opportunity for everyone involved to internalize field marks, wildlife behavior, and natural history.
The Tracker Certifications emphasize practical tracking and the development of reliable field skills, and are unassociated with any particular philosophy or tracking school. No prior training is required to participate.
The North American CyberTracker Conservation Evaluation System aims to establish reliable, standardized wildlife tracking training to invigorate and enhance knowledge of natural history and field-skill among biologists and various State and Federal agency personnel, train general public for reliable citizen science, and better equip educators and guides in ecotourism.

Dave Scott is the Founder and Executive Director at Earth Native Wilderness School. He has been an avid Wildlife Tracker for over 30 years and has been teaching Wildlife Tracking to others for nearly two decades. Dave has been engaged with the CyberTracker Certification system since 2006 and believes it is an incredible system not only for accurately evaluating one's field skills but that it is also one of the best Tracking learning experiences in the world. Dave is the co-author of Bird Feathers: A Guide to North American Species.
Jonah Evans is the State Mammalogist for Texas Parks and Wildlife. Jonah has a M.S. in Wildlife Science from Texas A&M University and a B.A. from Prescott College. He has been a CyberTracker Track & Sign Evaluator since 2008 and has certified hundreds in track identification around the country. He authored iTrack Wildlife, an iPhone field guide to animal tracks, and is a co-author of Animal Tracks and Scat of California.
Casey McFarland is the co-author of Bird Feathers: A Guide to North American Species. He currently contributes to various wildlife projects, including wildlife connectivity and carnivore studies, and has worked extensively in mountain lion research. He trains and certifies biologists, research teams and the general public across the US and Europe through the CyberTracker Conservation evaluation system, an international standard for gauging and enhancing one’s in-field knowledge of track, sign and behavior of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
