2024 SUMMER ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION INTERNSHIP FOR TEENS

Summer 2024 Environmental Education Internship For Teens

 

Earth Native Wilderness School is happy to announce we are now accepting applications for our Summer Environmental Education Internship for Teens! Teen interns will work closely alongside Earth Native instructors throughout the summer at McKinney Falls State Park to gain first hand experience planning, prepping, and delivering enriching environmental education programming to children. In addition to gaining hands-on facilitation and teaching experience, interns will also be mentored in our 8 Shields “Invisible School” nature mentoring style. This internship is an excellent opportunity for teens to learn new skills, increase confidence, begin to build a strong resume for future job opportunities, and have a ton of fun!

 

Qualifications

We are seeking highly motivated and responsible teens who are passionate about being outside, sharing their nature skills and passion with others, and Earth Native’s mission.

 

Applicants must be between 14-18 years old, and a current or former student at either one of Earth Native's Weekly Programs or the Teen Wilderness Adventure course. Education Interns will be required to commit to a minimum of 176 hours throughout the summer (four 40/hr weeks of camp) and 8 hours of training prior to camp. Intern training will take place on May 18th. 


Note: Applicants who want even more experience may request to intern for up to nine weeks of camp.

Responsibilities

Assist instructors with day to day camp operations and activities. Help facilitate after hours activities for campers. Assist instructors with lesson planning and material prep. Lead at least one activity every camp week (circle, specific lesson, game, etc.). Help maintain a safe and functional outdoor school learning environment. Participate in daily camp planning, debrief and feedback meetings with instructional staff. Interns will report to the Camp Director. 

 

Compensation

This is an unpaid internship. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of their internship and may request letters of recommendation from Earth Native staff for job and/or college applications.
