Nature Days
at Walnut Creek Metro Park

Going to the park isn’t about playing on a hot, plastic playground anymore!

Bring the whole family and connect with nature at Walnut Creek Metro Park!  Each Nature Day will start at the incredible “Fairy Pavilion”, one of the new nature play features installed at the park, and branch out to activities which explore the wonders of the natural world.

Families will peek into the wonderous world of plants and their uses as we wander the landscape on plant hunting adventures sampling edible plants that grow in the park. Along the way, we’re likely to encounter magical forest creatures and help them build their forts and fairy houses.

We’ll explore the wonderful bounty of paints and pigments that can be made from natural materials that we find on the landscape. And finally we’ll explore the ancient art of making rope by using plant fibers to create natural cordage which has been used for thousands of years to create tools, build shelters, make fishing lines, and to repair clothing.

Please bring snacks or a picnic lunch to enjoy during the day’s adventures and a water bottle for each member of the family. Activities will require some walking on trails so close-toes shoes are recommended.

This is a family event and not a drop-off class.

An adult must accompany children at all times throughout the day.
