Expedition Earth Camp

Imagine a place where your child is given the space, time, tools, and guidance to embark on epic adventures built around the things that kids like to do best while teaching them incredibly useful survival skills at the same time. Join Earth Native for Expedition Earth Summer Camp where your kids will explore the woods, learn fun and useful outdoor skills and be invited to step into the scenes of their imaginations.

Practicing wilderness skills is endlessly fun for humans of all ages. These skills are deeply rooted in our common human ancestry. Imagine having to provide for yourself and your family using only the tools and resources that could be found and created from the landscape! Most of these ancestral skills are what we now call “natural child’s passions” and include things like fort building, learning to start and tend fire, fishing and catching small critters, navigating the woods and so much more!

Campers will begin the week learning a wide variety of wilderness skills, and then will put these skills to use in a culminating magical imaginary survival adventure on Friday. Each camp week’s adventure will unfold in different ways, but every camp will cover the following topics:

  • Fire making

  • Knife carving and safety

  • Shelter building

  • Edible and medicinal plants

  • Primitive fishing

  • Archery

  • Navigation

Safety first!

When your child is with us, we understand their safety is our responsibility and this is an honor that we take very seriously.

One of the first skills that we focus on in every camp is hazard awareness. Our instructors follow strict safety protocol regarding the use of carving knives and saws. This is also true for other activities that involve risks such building and working with fire as well as making and using tools. Each student must pass a strict safety test (safety class and practice proceeds test) for saws and knives before use.

All of our summer camp instructors are First Aid and CPR Certified. We take pride in creating a safe environment for your children to experience the growth and self-discovery that comes from learning new skills.
