Good first aid skills can make a critical difference when an injury or illness occurs, especially when professional medical care is far away. No one begins a hike or camping trip expecting an emergency, but the sudden and unpredictable nature of wilderness incidents makes preparation essential.

What will you do if you or someone you care about becomes injured or ill in the backcountry? Will you have the knowledge and confidence to assess the situation, make sound decisions, and provide appropriate care until help is available?

This 16-hour Wilderness First Aid course is designed for situations in which professional medical care may be an hour or more away. Through online learning and hands-on instruction, you will learn practical skills for responding to both minor and serious injuries and illnesses. These skills can help make your outdoor experiences safer and better prepare you to assist yourself, your family, and others when the need arises.

Hybrid Course Format

This course combines:

• 8 hours of online instruction, completed at home at your own pace before the in-person class

• 8 hours of hands-on, in-person hands-on instruction at the Earth Native Campus

Note: The 8 hours of online coursework MUST be completed PRIOR to the in-person section of the class without exception.

After registering, you will receive an email with instructions and a link to the online portion of the course. The online coursework must be completed before attending the in-person class.
