There’s something deeply satisfying about opening a jar of your own home-canned food, bright summer flavors, garden-fresh veggies, or savory meats you prepared yourself, and knowing exactly what went into it. In a world where so much food comes prepackaged and loaded with preservatives, learning to naturally preserve your own food is an art, a great way to save money, and a powerful act of self-reliance.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll dive into the time-honored skills of canning and dehydration with expert, step-by-step instruction. Whether you’re looking to extend your garden’s bounty, prepare hearty shelf-stable meals, save money buying in bulk, or just explore a fun new sustainable hobby, this class will give you the confidence and know-how to safely preserve food at home.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Pressure Canning for Meat: Master the safe use of a pressure canner and learn both hot and cold pack methods for preserving meat — perfect for delicious, ready-to-use meals all year long.

  • Hot Water Bath Canning: Discover how to make your own jams, pickles, or preserved fruits using the classic hot water bath method.

  • Food Dehydration: Watch a live demonstration of food dehydration and learn how to dry fruits, veggies, and herbs for long-term storage and healthy snacks.
