FORAGING TEXAS
Common Edible
& Medicinal Plants of Central Texas

The natural world is brimming with an extraordinary abundance of edible and medicinal wild plants—many of which are more nutrient-dense than the crops found in our grocery stores. Indigenous peoples and early settlers knew how to harness the power of these plants for nourishment and healing, yet much of this ancestral knowledge has been lost to time.

At Earth Native Wilderness School, we’re on a mission to preserve and revive this timeless wisdom for current and future generations.

In this immersive class, you’ll learn everything you need to embark on your foraging journey. We’ll cover:

  • Plant Identification: Learn how to confidently identify a variety of local edible and medicinal plants.

  • Wildcrafting Essentials: Discover how to harvest and prepare plants safely and sustainably.

  • Toxic Plants to Avoid: Gain the critical knowledge needed to steer clear of potentially harmful species.

  • Continuing Your Journey: Receive expert guidance and recommendations for resources to deepen your foraging skills.

This class pairs perfectly with our upcoming Field Botany course on March 16th, designed to expand your understanding of plant life even further.

The workshop will be led by Eric Knight, Earth Native’s resident plant and foraging expert and co-author of Foraging Texas—a comprehensive, user-friendly field guide to Texas’ edible and medicinal plants. Autographed copies will be available for purchase during registration.

Join us to reconnect with nature, deepen your appreciation for wild plants, and take your first steps into the world of foraging!
