Join us for a day of Crafting with Leather! In this class you will be introduced to a variety of sewing techniques, tools and materials to make your own hand-crafted leather goods and gifts. We will explore multiple types of stitches and approaches to using patterns as well as tips for creating your own patterns and styles in the future. You will learn about multiple types of seam construction and how to choose the right stitch for your desired project, materials and aesthetic. 

 

Each participant will select a project to work on in class from our available patterns and leathers and take home at least one finished item with the potential for exploring other small projects depending on our time available.

 

Possible project options may include:

• Wallet or Card Case

• Journal Cover 

• Coin Purse or small Bag

• Infinity Braid Cuff Bracelet 

• Small Clutch 

• Pen/Pencil or Lighter Sleeve

In this class we will primarily be sewing with commercially tanned leather; but for an additional cost, participants may have the option of selecting and purchasing hand-tanned buckskin (deerskin) made right here at Earth Native by your Instructor, either for your class project or to take home. Come and see real buckskin clothes sewn by hand, explore the types of seams and construction used and leave with your own handmade project to begin your journey of crafting with leather!
