March 19th UPDATE-
Firstly we hope that you are all healthy and that your families are all weathering the incredible stress of the last week. I highly recommend going outside and watching and listening to the birds for a few minutes and feeling the breeze on your skin. Studies have shown that nature is an incredible stress reliever. I was outside working at the Earth Native Campus a bit today and for short moments in time I could look past all of this craziness and feel at peace in nature. Hopefully you all can get some of that too.
One of the things I value most about Earth Native Wilderness School is the wonderful community of kids and families that surround our school! We are grateful to you for your interest in joining our community or expanding your family's role in it through our Weekly Nature School program.
This current Coronavirus crisis is poised to hit our school hard (hopefully just in the short term) and we currently have all hands on deck focused on coming up with a plan to keep all of our staff on payroll and without any interruptions to their health insurance.
Unfortunately we are forced to cancel the Weekly Nature School Visit Day that is scheduled for April 7th. With the current limits on gatherings of more than 10 people (which just went statewide today) this event will not be possible as scheduled.
We will definitely try and reschedule if we can but it will really depend on how things develop over the next week or so. If the limits on group sizes do not lift after next week we may try and reschedule and run a few smaller visit day events that fit within the maximum group guidelines or shift to shorter tour style events. We will be in touch with updates as they are created.
As of now we still plan to open enrollment to new families for the 2020/21 Weekly Nature School program on April 8th as planned.
In the meantime, feel free to call me any time if you'd like to ask questions about the program for next year. I'd be delighted to get back to some of the regular business calls that I'm used to and take my mind off of COVID-19, even if just for a few minutes at a time.
All the best,
