NATURAL POTTERY FOR KIDS
Long before we had metal and plastic containers, communities throughout the world utilized clay to create beautiful and functional pottery. Wouldn't it be awesome to learn how to transform a hunk of mud into ceramics, just as our ancestors did for thousands of years? Come learn one of the most ancient human ancestral skills, primitive pottery!
Over this 2-day course, students will learn how to identify, locate, harvest and process natural clay and then learn to fire it in a wood fire.
The first day of class will focus on harvesting clay and building our pots. The pots will then need to dry completely before the second class day when students will learn ancient primitive firing techniques that we will transform our clay vessels into functional ceramics.
